The stock market continues to move higher. SP500 made another new all time high last week with weak breadth. This could be a sign the market is little fatigue and could experience a near term pull back, but there are no signs the market has topped yet.
When the market begins to fall, there will be lot of grounds below to be covered, especially those POC, poor highs & poor lows, single prints left behind from the rally. Here is the link for the tutorial video on how to set up market profile chart on Thinkorswim: https://youtu.be/an8Puhpp6es

Expect The Unexpected From The Stock Market
I probably do not need to tell you that the stock market has been up seven out of the last eight weeks, and the stock market appears to be making new high on a daily basis. The recent stock market price actions give the perception to investors that the only risk in the stock market is that they risk on missing the opportunities to make money. As this FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) cycle is being play out, all the latecomers to the market will be trapped when the unexpected occurs.
In the following video, you will see how the stock market has been behaving, what signs are there that tell us there are still more new high coming, and what macro events to beware of that could trigger the unexpected move by the stock market.

Waiting For Housing Starts Disappointment
Tomorrow March 7, 2019, two major economic reports will be released before the market open; the February non-farm payroll (NFP) and the January housing starts.
The consensus is 175,000 jobs added in February, and the unemployment rate went down by 0.1% to 3.9%. ADP February employment report released earlier this week stated 183,000 private jobs were added, therefore the NFP consensus will likely be met or exceeded.
The consensus for January housing starts is 1.170 million units annualized rate and 1.287 million housing permits. In recent months, home sales figures and home price increases have been pointing to a slowdown and most likely the housing starts numbers will be disappointed. The reason why the housing starts play such an important role in the US economy is because most of the durable goods purchases stem from housing; i.e. furniture and major appliance purchases.
If one of these reports fails to meet or exceed the consensus numbers, the market will likely continue to pull back and probably with more vigorous. The daily price chart of the SP500 index shows it has started to pull back since the beginning of March, and any disappointments from these reports could cause the market to drop 4.75% from the February close to the level near 2675.

Broken Down?
In my last post, "Shaky Start", I stated there is a positive breadth divergence and that a rally could soon appear. Although the market continues to drop last Thursday and Friday, the positive divergence still has not dissipated but is getting close to be back in sync. As a good student of the market, I will wait until the divergence has disappeared to give up on the expectation of a dead cat rally. And if we look at the latest price action, things have not broken down as the market lead us to believe, at least not yet!

Still Waiting
Last week, the FED raised the Fed Fund Rate for the first time in more than 7 years, and the market around the globe rallied off that news until it got back to NY the follow day, then a funny thing happened, the market started to fall. It gave up all the gains from the rate hike rally and more, and the SP500 had an 83 point swing last week and ended the week at 2005.55, a loss of 6.83 points or 0.34% from previous week. As Christmas holidays approaching, market participants are still waiting for Santa to show up and sprinkle some holiday cheers to get the end of the year rally going. Looking at the recent internals, there appears to be some divergence that could be pointing to a Santa's Rally to commence very shortly, just in time before the holiday break.

A Scenario For The SP500
Ever since the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed with a new all time closing high on May 19, 2015, followed by another new closing high from the SP500 two days afterward, the market has been trying to establish and initiate its intermediate direction. During this period, there have been numerous shakeout accompanied by some dramatic rallies and some very interesting selloffs.

How The Market Enters Into A Correction
The market remains near all time high territory while traders wait and preparing for a correction of 10% or more. The SP500 ended the month of March with a loss of 36.61 points or -1.7% on a month-to-month basis. The trend indicated by the monthly chart remains to be up. The price is sitting near the middle of the long term rising price channel and the monthly candle price pattern does not show any sign of a top.
